The American University in Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is organizing the Fourth Conference for Peace and Security in the Middle East for the period from (19-21/11/2023). This conference represents a unique elite gathering and meeting of influential political and security figures in the arena and events, whether they are in service or have fulfilled their role and served. Each of them has his say and contributes their opinions stemming from their personal experience in the service of international peace and security. Holding such conferences represents an opportunity to present ideas and proposals by the concerned people and launch new initiatives for a world free of fear, terror, violence and terrorism, and to outline the features of a better life. Many conferences and seminars are held around the world to study security issues and policies on an annual basis to discuss new matters in the international and regional arena, including the Munich and Minchin Conferences. Despite the importance of these conferences, which propose the recommendations and suggestions that serve international peace and security, the importance of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum held by the American University in Duhok Governorate far exceeds other conferences, and this importance lies in the following points.:
- This conference was held to study security issues related to a fiery, hot, prosperous and important region in the world. This region is the beating heart of the world with all its events, conflicts and wars, the strength of its economy, its natural and human resources and the degree of its influence on the stability of the world. The region has advantages that cannot be counted.
– The importance of the people participating in this conference, despite their small number, are active as they hold or used to hold political or security leadership positions and left their mark with their decisions and correct handling of the security crises they were facing, including a president, a minister, a representative in Parliament, and famous figures at the national or regional level or international, in addition to the geographical diversity of the participants, as there are among them those from the Far East and others from the Far West and from all ideas and orientations..
– Another importance of the conference comes from the significance of the topics and files presented in it that relate to international security and peace in general, with special attention to the situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the security situation in the Middle East, the political, economic and security challenges, climate change, water and food security, the phenomenon of global warming, drought, desertification, and sand storms, and how to address them?
– The organization of this conference by the American University in Duhok Governorate gives it another importance, as it expresses, albeit indirectly, the policy of the United States of America as an essential and active party in global and regional security policies and a clear indication of the importance of regional stability in America’s security strategies in order to protect its interests and goals and sustain its relations with her allies, implementing its agendas, and playing her role.
– The interest of Mr. Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, in this conference, his continuous attendance at it, his understanding of its details, and his active participation, considering that his Excellency is the descendant of a family that is distinguished by its struggle and sacrifices of its grandfathers and fathers, and is known for its nationalist stances and is familiar with what has happened and is taking place in the region, in addition to the fact that His Excellency has worked for many years in this field being at the head of the pyramid of the security service.in the
