My Mother’s Watch
by the Kurdish poet: Sherko Bekas
trans. by : Freyad Ibrahim
When I was grown up
My left wrist
saw lots of lovely real watches
But none of them
had pleased my heart
like the watches
of my mother’s teeth
had left
on my arms and my hands
Dear faryad .. …i wanted you to explain the wisdom in these poetik verses..thank you
it means I like the bites of my mother on my hands
the bites left traces like handwacthes on my arm and hands, when she played with me
thanks
Fryad
